Spirit Bear on a Vancouver Sidewalk

Spirit Bear figure on a street corner on Vancouver's Westside, near UBC. Spotted it as we drove past, and had to stop to take some images.

there was a small plaque below the bear, explaining what it signifies. There are several of these Spirit Bears in the city, and in the fall they will be auctioned off, to raise money for the treatment of children who are ill. Apparently there's a website, which I plan to check asap to learn more about this.

This was the first one of these bears we've seen here, but since seeing this one yesterday, it jogged my memory that I had heard something about them sometime ago, but had forgotten. I was wondering where the other bears are. Am hoping to see others now.

Sorry Golda, but I don't know if these bears are signed, and I didn't notice who the artist is. This Spririt Bear is on West 10th Avenue, if you know the area, quite close to the Safeway store, same side of the street. Didn't have a pen with me when I jumped out of the vehicle, just the camera and big lens, which doesn't make carrying much else very easy : ) Will try to find out more, not sure if I'll even be able to find the website.
