Nikon D300 Digital Camera

Mar 13, 2010 10:07 PM EDT

Review from Sgbrown I've recently upgraded from my D200 (itself a wonderful camera) to the D300. The key improvements that matter to me are: The new 51-point auto-focus system. This makes relying on the camera's "choice" of focus a much more practical affair. Unlike the D200 where I tended to select the central focus point, focus on my subject, and then with the shutter release...

Nikon D90 Camera Review

Jan 02, 2009 12:19 AM EDT

Love this camera! The first time I held it, it just fits perfectly. The design, weight and user friendly buttons is simply great. My Nikon D90 came with an 18-105mm F3.5 VR lens. Perfect for me because it's an all around lens. I mean for daily use it's awesome. Once you get to navigate the features of the D90, you'll be totally overwhelmed. It has some features of the D700 and D3 exc...

Sigma Zoom Normal-Telephoto 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Nikon AF-D

Sep 15, 2008 09:06 PM EDT

I rented this lens for a few weeks to photograph wildlife in Montana and Yellowstone. This was the first lens I've used in the 500mm focal range, and I used a monopod to support the weight because it's at least 5 pounds. I played around with shutter speeds to end up with a sharp image. Of course, anything faster than 1/750 worked fine. With the monopod, I felt OK dropping it to 1/600, bu...

Nikon SB-800 Speedlight Review

Apr 29, 2008 05:53 PM EDT

The SB-800 is an awesome flash, very powerful, nearly as much light as some studio mono-lights. It includes an extra battery holder which makes absolutely no sense. The flash takes 4 AA rechargeable batteries and the extra holder has one more. It is unbelievably inconvenient to charge one AA battery by itself so I don't use it. I just have an extra set of 4AA rechargeable batteries ready. Th...

Nikon D80 Camera Review

Apr 29, 2008 12:35 PM EDT

Review by Uspshooter The D80 is a decent body with 10.2 MP. The only thing I haven't liked about it is the auto white balance, which seems to be inconsistent. I can take multiple shots of the same thing and sometimes get differing color settings. Other than that the camera works great. I also have an MB-D80 battery grip, 70-210mm f4-5.6D AF lens, and SB-800 flash (among other little goodies...

Sigma Zoom Super Wide Angle 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Nikon

Apr 28, 2008 11:59 PM EDT

Sigma's 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM lens allows enjoyment of super wide-angle photography and it is a very powerful tool for indoor shooting and landscape photography with APS-C size image sensors of digital SLR cameras. The wide angle of view ranges between 102.4-degrees at 10mm and 63.8-degrees at 20mm, which offers the photographer greater freedom of expression. It has a minimum focusing dis...

Nikon Telephoto AF VR Zoom Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S Autofocus Lens

Apr 18, 2008 09:34 PM EDT

I've done some research on this lens because its one that I'm planning on buying. From what I've seen elsewhere on the Internet, it's highly rated by hobbyists and serious amateurs and fits into most people's budget that have invested in a DSLR. The vibration reduction is the main feature that people buy it for, as it allows a person to shoot at 4 stops slower than normal whe...

Nikon D200 Camera Review

Jan 07, 2008 02:18 PM EDT

Review by Sgbrown This is a superb camera. The large number of buttons can be daunting at first, but you soon realize that buttons are a lot easier to find and press than having to dig down through a complex set of menus! All the most needed settings are available directly without menus - including ISO speed, white balance, bracketing options, exposure compensation, single or continuous exposure...

Telephoto AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR (Vibration Reduction) Autofocus Lens

Jan 07, 2008 02:12 PM EDT

This lens produces very crisp images, and the VR option works well. It's quite a bulky lens, and sometimes it has trouble "deciding" what to focus on in auto-focus mode, but those are small drawbacks in comparison to the distortion-free images and excellent resolution

Nikkor 28-80mm Kit Lens

Dec 26, 2007 01:18 PM EDT

This lens came with the D50 as part of the kit. It's a decent lens for average pictures, but it's range isn't wide or long enough for many shots. The quality of the image seems to be pretty sharp, but the aperture isn't large enough for indoor or low light. This is a decent starter lens, but should be replaced with something better as soon as possible
