My D50 has been great for me for over a year now. The D80 replaced the D50 and comes with a 10.2 Megapixel sensor instead of 6.1 for the D50. Many of the other features have been upgraded as well.
Some of the features of the D80 SLR Digital Camera are 10.2 Megapixel, ISO 1600 Sensitivity, 2.5" LCD Monitor, Instant Start Up, 3 fps Burst, 11-area AF System, 7 Digital Vari-Programs, Built-in Speedlight, In-camera Image Editing, and PictBridge Direct Printing.
The 18-135mm lens is $399 when sold separately, so it's worth it to buy with the D80 camera body. It will handle most photographic situations as it goes from wide angle to a telephoto that makes your subject 4 times closer than normal based on 35mm film standards. 35mm film standards assume a focal length of 50mm is considered normal or 1 times normal magnification. The 135mm lens on the D80 is really 202mm after the 1.5 multiplier due to the smaller sensor size. 202mm/50mm = 4 times magnification.
