Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (350D)

I bought a Canon Rebel XT (350D) when I was in Australia and had 'mislaid' my Canon 300D (long story!). It came as a kit, with EFS 18-55mm and EF 75-300mm lens. The 350D is slightly smaller than the 300D, so it's easier for me to hold. Most of the features are the same as the 300D, although there is a setting to take black and white photo's. The camera is very user friendly and ideal for a beginner or someone moving up from a digital compact. It can be used in fully automatic mode or you can change the settings manually. The shutter speed is slightly faster than on the 300D and I have been very pleased with the quality of the images produced with this camera.

You do need a tripod to take shots with the zoom 75-300mm lens, at maximum extension; hand held, the shots are not fully focused.

You can use less expensive lens that are compatible with Canon and I think I will investigate this when looking for a macro lens.

All in all, a really good camera for an amateur, like myself.
