About This Image

taken same day, in the church house garden. I just learned that an old time name for Viola was HeartsEase, so am adding this.

forgot to add, that also don't know that much about the manual settings on my camera. I'd like a better camera, but not sure if I'd figure out how to use it, so it needs some thought, -and there are so many to choose from that it's quite something trying to decide : )

know what you mean, I love seeing the large versions of the pics on the monitor, especially in winter when all the flowers have gone : ) - have been thinking the same thing about using a tripod, haven't used one yet, - but like to just "be free" and spontaneous.

I can get photos like this with my macro but the conditions have to be right. It would possibly help if I used a tripd also and then I might be able to get them in focus. I've had my camera since January but I'm only really learning to use the functions on it. I still get stumped by the manual functions. I've found out though, that I can fill up a memory card really quick - oh, and waste a good few hours in the process. I enjoy it though and when I put them on the computer, it makes it all the better seeing the photos on a bigger screen.

you must have been surprised to get a comment like that from the girl at the camera shop! wanted to mention that I didn't use a special lens for the viola shot, - I don't have any additional lenses for my camera. Just set it to "macro" setting. good luck on your search for a new lens.

Because it is still officially winter here (though you wouldn't know it sometimes), the lighting is quite often not that great. To be able to get a nice close-up with my camera, I need lots of light. I went to the camera shop today enquiring about lenses and the assistant asked me why as I have quite a good camera. I said I was having trouble with close-ups of small things, like insects, and she asked me why on earth I wanted to photograph insects. I walked out. The camera I have is really expensive here (I bought it in Canada) so the accessories are over the top. Might have to import some so I can get a shot like this.

thanks Lulu, happy you like it, they are such dainty sweet flowers, am sure you will capture a great shot soon, as your flower season will soon be just starting whereas ours is coming to a close.

I took a photo of one in my garden that is exactly the same. There was not enough light and mine is out of focus. Nice to see what it could have looked like.
