Great Blue Heron, hoping nobody would hurt him.
Saw someone else taking pics of this guy, so we stopped and turned around and also got some shots.
There are many of these Great Blues around here. Infact it's the "logo" of our small town. They usually fly off when they see us coming tho', but this guy stayed put : )

many thanks, Alex, Mary in Kent and Carol. I did try to get some with the heron's reflection in the water, so will put one of those up later. The man who was taking pics of this guy when we got there, said the heron had started to get some of his breeding colours. I don't know that much about them tho', will hafta read up on them and see what it says in the bird books.
