About This Image

A action shot from the 2003 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. It was a very warm day and to make it warmer we had seats in the sun. That was ok, there was plenty of room to walk around and take photos. You could even find some shade now and then.

You are an inspiration and are aerlady an astronaut in many eyes. What you do - the pursuit of your dreams - is undeniably the greatest asset any human can acheive. You are aerlady there!I look forward to my autograph picture from you aboard any number of vehicles we will be using in the near future to get into space.More importantly to me - you are a shining expample for my little princess to admire and look up to. For that, the most heartfelt thanks. Follow me so we can follow each other. You can see if anything ever comes from my quest to sell a million "messages" and I'll follow your quest at becoming an astronaut. Good luck!

Hi again Jas :) I'm glad you liked my rodeo photo. It sure was hot and dusty. I did have fun and was happy I got some nice shots with my point and shoot camera.

Great action shot Alan! Your shot evokes plenty of excitement and shows just how dusty the conditions are. You certainly clicked the shutter just at the right moment....well done! :)

Hi Brian and Cindy, Thanks a bunch for checking out my photo and leaving your nice comments. We did have fun at the rodeo and it was challenging to get the action shots with my slow focusing point and shoot. What helped was the horses jumped with a steady beat.

Hi Ann, Thanks for your really nice comment :) I'm glad you liked my ride-em cowboy photo. I don't get to many rodeos as you can tell by the date.

Hi Robyn, I'm glad you liked my photo. I was up about 20 feet or so, I really don't remember. I was wondering around the seats taking photos. The horse was bucking to a perfect beat making it easy to catch them in the air. The horse was going up and down more than moving forward, that helped a lot...

Very nice! I love this. The horse looks like he just exploded into the air. Were you sitting up high?

Hi Tania, Thanks very much :-) Glad you liked it... This was my favorite out of all the photos I shot that day.

Hi Kirsty, I think the way animals are treated changes from different country's. At this rodeo in Cheyenne the horses, and bulls were only ridden once maybe twice the whole day. They take very good care of there animals, they also are not cheap to purchase and feed along with medical records and shots kept up to date. From what I have seen at rodeos, the cowboys and clowns end up getting the worst of things. This is just my views and sorry you feel rodeos are hard on the animals..

Its a good shot but I find this sport very cruel you should see the horses afterward!

Nice shot. I love rodeos!

All I can say is WOW!! Thanks everyone for all your very nice comments. Rodeo shots are really not very hard. The horses jump with a beat so timing is not very hard.. Now bulls are another story.
