Hungry Anhinga

The quality isn't great - but I had to share this one any way. Anhingas swallow their food whole, and have to turn fish around so they go down head first.

I got some pretty good video of this one, but this still is the best for showing how huge the fish was . . . actually - too big. The bird finally abandoned this meal!

Thank you, Karen, Steve and Alex. It was rather a classic - and rather obliging of the bird to wait until I arrived to add its water show!

The original inspiration for the saying "to bite off more than you can chew"! Or swallow, if you're an anhinga. Great shot Vicki - and sometimes subject is more important than technical perfection.

Incredible image. This must have been quite an event to witness.
