This was not taken by me, but I promised to put it on here a while ago. This is my wedding cake which was totally handcrafted by my sister Shirree (meridianz). She even made the flowers. It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. Was delicious too! The middle block tier is fully covered in NZ Paua. I had quite a New Zealand theme included in my wedding (including NZ fern fronds in my hair instead of flowers). I told Shirree what I wanted and she created the picture in my head exactly. I couldn't have asked for any better as it was just perfect.

Yes, she sure is one clever cookie. I'm so proud of her. She even surprised me on the day. My mother informed me that my sister Shirree - who made this cake - got married the day before. I am in love with the colours of the Paua shell and used it as well as the NZ fern on my invitations which I created by hand. Just about everything was handcrafted by someone I know. It was a great day. I can't believe its my first anniversary next week.

this is a work of art as well as being a true labour of Love. very artistically created. The NZ Paua shell tier is a great idea also. My friend from NZ brought me a gift crafted from the Paua shells when they visited us in 1986, a dragonfly pin/brooch. very pretty.
