Thanks Lorraine. It isn't super common in most areas I don't believe, but it is around. Most cities have laws that require pets to be vaccinated against it and to wear tags on their collars proving they had the shot. Most everyone I know with pets has them vaccinated even if they are not required. Not only for the pets protection, but their own. Don

Neat capture, we really just don't hear of rabies here, but you seem to have much more animal wild like than we do, is it very comman to come across it, how do you protect your pets?

Thanks Steve, yes they are nocturnal. You rarely see them in the daylight. I was a little concerned that this one may have been sick or even had rabies. He was sure to show me that he had large sharp teeth several times :-). Thanks again, Don

Lovely backlit image really makes the fur stand out. Forgive my ignorance, but since you mentioned the time of day, are racoons usually nocturnal?
