About This Image

This is my first clearwing moth that I have had a chance to shoot with my camera. It posed ever so cooperatively. I used the flash on a couple of shots and its wings would begin moving rapidly, but then calm down until the next picture. A very cooperative subject!

I saw this moth in our flower garden a couple of years in a row but I am the only person to see it finally last year my son took a picture of it and just this year he was reading a bird magazine that had a picture of it and the name of the creature at last it's safe to say I am not losing my mind they are real

Thanks for commenting Vicki. This moth was approx. 2" by 2". The colors were so gorgeous. I have not seen one since this photo was taken.

I just saw one the other day for the first time in real life. I didn't have my camera with me though. Great capture! Stephanie

Thanks for the comments. I have seen a couple of other clearwings since, and they were not nearly as docile as this one!
