About This Image

A colony of comorants, nesting on the Leslie St. spit. These birds are not the most pleasant, they are very aggressive and have the ability to alter local ecosystems.
These birds were quite rare 5 years ago, now they have taken over the waterfront

How wonderful to see such an unbelieveable sight!! I have seen bird trees, some with buzzards in them but never a colony of nesting birds like this. Thank you so much. I am a bird lover from way back. Your picture really "made my day." So happy you captured the scene. Great job!!!

The spit, located in Toronto, is an extension that is about 5km long extending into Lake Ontario. It is a work in progress, started with clean land fill. Nature has taken over and it is now a park. Besides the birds it is home to other animials such as deer, fox, coyotes.
