About This Image

A Mourning Cloak, one of the first butterflies we've seen so far this spring. These appear to be black when flying, but the bright sunlight on this one reveals its beautiful chestnut color.

What a wonderfully captured Mourning Cloak. The color and detail are so clearly photographed. The texture of the fallen tree is pleasing to view with this butterfly.

Lovely photo of the butterfly,we spotted one yesterday here in Maine but wasnt quick enough to get its pic. Ours appeared to look black. Carol

Wow, this is a beautifull butterfly. The pattern looks like it is edged with lace. You did a great job of capturing the color and detail.
