I've always had problems with flowers living in the old mailbox that I affixed to the fence. The sun is to hot because of the narrow depth of the box. While weeding around the dianthis I happened to pull some of the plant out. I went over and placed it in the mailbox which I hadn't found a plant for this year. Well, the dianthus "loves" this spot. It is growing and blooming. I'm hoping that it makes it through the winter and my problem with be solved in regard to what plant for the mailbox each year.
