About This Image

hummingbird from a different view, atop the water droplets from fountain. Reminds me of a bumble bee here :) Note the little dash of bright red iridescence on it's throat in this shot. Don't know if its an immature male or female.
captured from open front window

This very similar to what I think I saw today--much smaller than usual hummingbirds I get here, confused. At first wondered what I was seeing. Striped body, kind of tiger stripes, but beautiful rose color on back and wings. Zipped around just like hummingbird, same wing movement, long slender beak, but made me think of a moth or butterfly way it was colored. Any ideas?

I love this photo, so much so I keep coming back to it over and over again. I wish Australia had such a wonderful bird. Thank you very much. Take care.

Well, I'm a bit late in noticing this one... I love this Alandra! You almost want to move out the way, the way he's headed straight at ya! Awesome shot.

thankyou for the info, Rufous from Calgary. We had what I believe to be an Anna's hummer here a couple weeks ago, - it stayed here for about 2 weeks, but we haven't seen it feeding here lately.

Nice image....FYI it's an adult Female Rufous Hummingbird

thanks very much, Karen. It's always fun hearing "which" picture people enjoy most. It is cute. I like the "intense" look on its face, lol. Am not sure how I captured that one :)

thanks very much Mike and Don, am happy you like them. I still like your hummer shot best, Don, the one where she's pulling the "downy stuff" from the cattail/bullrushes.

thanks Carol, - you must be up early, and I haven't gone to bed yet, LOL. It is a different view of a hummer, and with the wing appearing wider, gives the impression of a bumble bee.
