About This Image

Rufous female hummingbird feeding on nectar from the fuchsia flower in hanging basket by our front door.
taken from open front window, telephoto lens. her wings are bent backwards here.
My daughter gave me the basket for Mothers Day, and her children gave her one the same for Mothers day also, but someone just stole it from the front of her house today!!

thanks Tam, happy you like it. I'd forgotten about this one, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. The wings being captured sorta backwards is a bit different to most of my other shots of them. Am getting anxious to see the hummers back here next month. Have put some nectar out already, incase the Anna's returns (the one that was here before Xmas and again a few wks ago), but no sign of it since.

had forgotten about this image, Janice, thanks for bringing it up and thanks also for the nice comments. It is sweet. Don't have any flower baskets blooming here yet, so no chance to get pics like this one. The weather's been very changeable and cool for this time of year.

What a sweet shot.

thanks again, Vincent. happy you like these hummer shots : ) This is a bit of an illusion in this one, re the wing size, - as the wings are bent backwards somewhat here, so do appear smaller than they really are, esp the R wing. If you see a pic where the wings are spread right open, I think you'll see the difference.

Nice shot Alandra, the wings are quite small for such a fast flying bird, great stillness while it hovers.

Kudos to you once again, Alandra. How you nailed this so its wings look STILL is beyond me. It's wonderful
