Green Heron near Midway Campground

Thank you, Steve and Alex. When I first saw one of these last year, Steve, I had the worst time identifying it. This is how it looks relaxed - go through some of my bird images from last spring. I believe there's one there with its neck extended. It's an odd sight, but is a true heron. Vicki

I've never heard of a green heron, but it looks a very handsome bird. I like the beady eye! This kind of heron doesn't seem to have a long neck?
