Thanks Art, and a belated thanks to Alex. Elk once roamed this area, but became extinct due to loss of habitat and over hunting.

Thanks for the comments, A. Lovely, Lorraine, Carol and Karen. And this magnificient animal will not be hunted here in W.N.C. They live in the Nat. Park and even if they wander out of the park boundaries, Elk are not hunted. They were re-introduced here about 7 yrs ago and they are thriving.

Beautiful animal with that lovely rack that makes him a target for hunters. It seems weird but I can see a human face with parted bangs below his chin ?? Lovely wildlife shot.

What a powerful animal. You got a very nice pose talsi. I like the grass as it surrounds the elk and softens the edges of the picture.
