An egret in flight as it passed by after being disturbed from fishing by a group of children.
Beautiful birds in flight as well as on the ground. In my burst of shots, I noticed how the neck initially was outstretched but was gradually retracted. In this shot, perhaps a second into flight, the bird is just beginning to retract his/her neck.

great capture, Alex! It's lots of fun, right : ) Would love to see a great white egret. Think they aren't in this area, tho' - have never seen one.

Coincidently, I was taking a walk tonight and found a tree, a couple of blocks from where I live, where several of these fellas were settling in for nesting at night.
