About This Image

This is the entrance to a 30ft cutting, 25ft deep and 8ft wide. It was made by one man with only a pick and shovel and it took him 6 years to complete. Its absolutely amazing to walk through and when you come out the other side, its like stepping into a whole new world. It was made to trek horse's through with milk cans strapped to their sides, to a long walk to a distant milk company. He was paid no wage for his effort and work but was kept in food. (and we think we are hard done by!!)

Thank you Jas for your neat comment. I bet some of those hard working men would laugh at the thought of anti-depressants and the stress related illness's that affect alot of our population now days! How very interesting and what a great shot, with good perspective! Folk certainly lead very hard lives in the past but I bet they were a lot happier than some of the folk today? :)
