About This Image

This was the first fox image I got - from inside, but the window had too much reflection. I didn't want to toss it out as the fox coloring was great, so I used a watercolor filter on it to soften the overall effect.

Hullo Steve. I looked at your Suffering fox before responding. Thank you for the reality check. Knowing your general reaction to filters, I'm immensely pleased by your affirmation in this instance. Fortunately there are moments when filters can save a less-than-ideal image. The original here just missed (okay - my dirty windows didn't help either!!!), but the elements were solid, so I decided to go filter-exploring. I wa surprised when Rose requested a hard copy as she's more of a photo purist too! I thought his tail was rather amazing. The one we saw crossing the road was also beautiful, but lacking this one's enormous brush. We'll be outside getting the 'house' ready to roll today, so I'm not sure if he'll get as close, or even head this way. Vicki

Your filter effect has really worked well here Vicki. When I look at this fellow's beautiful bushy tail, it makes my shot of the "suffering fox" in my back garden even more poignant.

I'm glad you enjoyed him, Lorraine. Rose, the owner of the property asked for a copy of this one today. She and Mike's daughter, Ivy, raise Irish Setters and their house is full of exotic birds, cats and other dogs. Ivy saw me taking pictures earlier so Rose came down for a look-see and asked for a copy of this to print out. Vicki
