I wanted you all to see this. The bark on this tree was scratched off by a bear - probably an adult black bear, but very possibly, a grizzly.
You see these all over in the high country - we hiked all over bear country on my trip to Montana and never gave it a thought - until I saw this one. This bear was tall!

Sometimes you come across scratchings only a foot tall or less. Those are done by cubs.
