Harp of the Wind

I wish it was my title, it's not. It was taken from an old 19th century painting that I have a lithograph of. Given to me by my Grandmother, I have cherished it since childhood. I credit it for my love of art and photography. This shot put me to mind of it in some ways. Taken on a hike through Fernwood forest yesterday along cross creek (pronounced crick in these parts :-). Thanks for looking, Don

Thanks Everyone. And thanks Alandra for getting me to do a little research on the litho I have. Homer D Martin is the artist who did it. Done in 1895, a painting of the Seine in Northern France. I found some interesting reading on him. Harp of the Wind was his original title, but he changed it for fear that it seemed too sentimental. I will try to take a photo of my litho and post it. Thanks again, Don

checking to see if I commented before or not, and see that I did.

In any event, wanted to add that I googled Harp of the Wind and found the work by Marco Zim (Zimmerman). Can see why you treasured the litho from your grandmother.

Really nice shot, Don. I'll bet they sing in the wind. Nice place to dip a line, too.

nice scene, Don. It also brings back memories for me, as it reminds me of the first area we moved to, when we moved to Canada, -- the Cariboo district of BC.

Superb composition, Don. I love the way the lines of the trees and the stream all lead the eye to the focal point of the picture. Also great colours!

Love the title! Beautiful photo. I like the angle..the perspective in the stream and line of trees leading you right into the scene.
