Since the snow hasn't arrived yet I thought it was a good time to prepare for next winter's heating by cutting and splitting a few trees for firewood.

Thanks for the comment Cindy,yes,the wood does seem to dry better piled that way and you don't have to bend so far to pick it up either.

My dad always stacked his freshly chopped wood this way, and always said it dried better. This is a great photo, nothing like the smell of new firewood!
