Humber bridge 1

This is a view of the Humber Bridge in eastern England. When it was completed it was the longest single suspension bridge span in the world, with a distance between the main supports of over a mile. In fact the towers are so far apart that the distance between them at the top is a few inches greater than the distance between them at the base, simply as a result of the curvature of the earth!

Thanks Carol and Alandra. Yes, Alandra, I think the landscape version is the better composition.

Thanks Mary. I'm glad you like the sky. There were a few patches of blue which allowed the odd shaft of sunlight, one of which has lit up the base of the nearer tower.

Super shot Steve.I like the angle you took the shot from with a good portion of the sky as a background.

Thanks Mike! I can tell you it was pretty windy yesterday when I took this shot - I was getting camera shake at 1/250th!
