Let Freedom Ring - in Memoriam

On Saturday I looked out the beautifully restored windows of the Registration Room at Ellis Island, amazed and humbled over the arduous journey our forebears took, seeking a better life for their families.

This is the same view they would have witnessed, the Statue of Liberty at their backs, on that fateful morning of September 11, 2007.

This is my quiet tribute to all who perished. And my pride in not only my countrymen who rallied and stood tall - but also to so very many, throughout the World, who supported us through the time that followed.

Perhaps, one day, Freedom will ring for ALL humanity.

Thank you so much for your comments, Alandra, Ikka and Alex.

Since creating this I've had several requests from servicemen

for printable copies - at least one is hanging in a VFW post in Florida due to the fact that it affects everyone. Vicki

have only just seen this, Vicky, and am echoing all the other comments. My daughter was telling me about the show that seems to be the same one Don mentioned. She and her daughter also visited the site when they were there last summer, and told me of their feelings while there.

Thank you for your encouraging feedback, Don and Mary. I've been reading several survivor and family stories in the New York papers. The aftermath is even more tragic as it continues to erode lives from the dust contamination, yet many people who survived have turned to more humanitarian careers. So many lessons from so much heartbreak and horror. Vicki

Vicki, I agree with all of the above comments. It is a hauntingly beautiful and emotional tribute to 911.

A beautiful piece of work and fitting tribute Vicki. 911 will never be forgotten. I watched a show the other night after work about a marine hero who was involved in 911. A group of people built him and his family a beautiful new home. I think I lost about a pint of fluid, it was very emotional. He loves this country and the flag and all it stands for, like many of us. This is a great piece of work you have created. Thanks. Don

Thank you, Carol. There was so much emotion built up within me after seeing The City and Ellis Island on Saturday that I had to create something special everyone could relate to.
