Pearl Crescent

This beautiful butterfly is a male, I believe.

Finds low vegetation while scouting for females.

It's one of my favorites, and hard to find.

Here in NW FL, we had a long, dry summer, and now that the rains have come, high vegetation and few flowers, but they're starting. The hazard for the butterflies are the county mowing machines, who are of the opinion that wildflowers=weeds, and thus are further depleting the forage and host plants of our butterflies and moths.
