Westminster

A whole clutch of famous London landmarks! The Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and across the River Thames, the London Eye. Not to mention Westminster and Waterloo bridges, and the Charing Cross rail bridge.

This is a wonderfful shot but, being afraid of heights, am too scared to look for long.

Wow, there are some interesting changes since I was there in 1968. I remember seeing Big Ben from across the river. I'm not so sure about the huge Eye, though. It clashes with the historical sights that I fondly remember. Thanks for sharing this great view.

What a fun aireal picture. I really liked picking out the landmarks as you listed them in your description. I see that you are amazed at all the attention that your photo has gotten. You shouldn't be!!! Super composed.

This is super Steve. They have helicopter rides over the City now? Wow! Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and other old architectural 'friends' are here from my teen years. (My first job was at Harrods and I went to school through 3rd form in Queensgate - down the road from the great museums. Thanks for the memories! . . . actually, I am on my way to check out your 'Mural - if my connection holds a bit longer - tata! Vicki

Thank you Patti, although from even your small gallery so far on TLF I think you underestimate your own talent (and probably overestimate mine!!)

Thanks for your comment Alan. I hope you do get to see London some day as it's still a beautiful city in many ways. It's always odd in a way to hear someone express a hope to see something with which one is so familiar oneself. It makes you realise that familiarity really can breed contempt, and one ought to be more appreciative of the things one knows well. I think I'll do a series of London shots to post here when I get some time!

Having said all that, if it's the Beatles you admire, perhaps you should visit Liverpool! Jockeylucy has some fantastic Liverpool shots on here!

Hi Steve, I missed this one somehow. Wonderful view of Westminster. I have seen photos of Big Ben but never the whole building. I really enjoyed looking all around your photo.

About the number of hits on photos, Brian the owner of TLF has a file in the forum about how to get more hits, about keywords, posting links, writing long explanations of your photos, and more. It is most likely searches from like Google where people are searching and looking for information about Westminster to say London landmarks. The more you add to your photos description the better. If I remember right, One of Brian's (Azkul) photos got like 600 hits in one day.

Thanks again for the view of London. I'm sure I will never get to visit there. Oh The Beatles Rule!!

Thanks Evelyn! I think the detail has come out pretty well, especially considering that I was of course shooting through a window.

I'm overwhelmed by the popularity of this photograph compared with all my others! Or maybe the hit counter's gone wrong!!
