Old Painted Lady

Old Painted LadyWith great weather here in Arizona I had to get outside and chase some birds, rabbits, or anything I could find. I stopped at our towns park and before long I found some butterflies here and there. I know very little about butterflies and thought this was a Monarch but with some help from km I now know it is a Painted Lady.
Painted Lady: Not as well known as the Monarch, these butterflies also migrate.
This Painted Lady by looking at the ends of it's wings I think it has flown many many miles. This shot it looks like the butterfly is flying, but it was standing on top of some little purple flowers. When it opened it wings I took the shot and it's wings hid the flower it was enjoying.
