"Stick 'em Up"

"Stick 'em Up"

Last weekend we traveled to Honesdale, Pennsylvania - where railroading began in the USA. On Saturdays they run a train between Honesdale and Hawley along the Laxawanna River.

On this trip we were treated to a train robbery, 1800 style and the bartering between French-Canadian and Back Hills American fur trappers as they vied for a coyly veiled mail-order bride.

Here the train had been forced to stop by the train robbers on horseback. The new camera grabbed the motion of the moving horses quite well.

Good morning, Lorraine, Beverly and Dudley. It's great to hear from all of you again. It was fun, Lorraine. Apparently the program changes weekly which must keep the characters busy all week (they are a volunteer troupe, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable.) Dud, they picked a perfect location to "attack" the train that had quite a western air about it. We had been talking to one of the engineers about the train itself when the 'bandits' showed up. He signalled to me to go to the end of the car and opened the door for me to get a few of these wide open images. Some of the other passengers were a bit miffed when they weren't accorded the same priviledge! (There wasn't room for more than two people and I had to keep an eye out for the troupe members to stay out of their way too.) Vicki
