Unopened Magnolia

Yes, I have decided to submit yet another magnolia picture. I found this one quite different though as I hadn't opened yet.

Hi Alandra. This is the pink/pale purple "tulip" variety magnolia. I'm not sure how the green came into it as it wasn't in the flower. Its appeared when I enhanced it a bit to bring out a bit of contrast but I liked it, so I left it. Most of my magnolia pics are this same variety but I do have a couple of the white ones you refer to as stellata mangnolias. I my garden I do also have a Magnolia tree that has big white blooms that flower in the summer. It has quite large waxy leaves that it doesn't lose in the winter. So you see, we seem to have the same three varieties here. We just make them look quite different in the way we photograph them. I did a series of three of these magnolia photos as an engagement present for my brother. I framed them in a silver frame and had this photo as the centre one with two opened ones on either side. I liked it so much that I bought myself a frame to do one for my wall. The only trouble is I now have nowhere to put it.

this is a unique one, too, Lulu, in that the petals take on an almost "metallic" appearance. the colour tones are lovely also.

We get magnolias here, but haven't noticed those green tones on the ones we see. We get 3 different varieties here, each spring, that I know of. First to appear are the white "stellata"/star magnolias. Then the "tulip tree" type of magnolias appear, which are the pink/pale purple variety. (which I thought initially was the same as the pics you've been sending in, but now am dubious about that).

Then there are the magnolias that grow on trees which become very large, and the white flowers bloom in the summer.
