"Brrrr, that's cold!"

"Brrrr, that's cold!"

I'm not quite sure why this pine tree seems to want out of the water - but its roots sure seem to suggest just thatleaping over themselves to get out of the water - or away from alligators!

We camped in this beautiful state park for two nights and were lucky to get them as it's booked throughout the winter and early spring.

Faver-Dyke State Park is close to I-95 and US-1, 17 miles south of St Augustine, Florida.

I thought that was you, Anne, but didn't want to say anything if we had another creative writer here!

Every time I look at this I wonder how long it took that pine tree to wind its roots around itself that way, just to keep its 'feet' dry - and how on earth it hasn't fallen over is beyond me! Luckily the State Park will never cut it down.

Vickie - I was visiting Rick and using his computer. That made me nervous and I forgot to put my name in. *LOL* I never noticed. But as soon as you said gnome home, I started laughing. I thought I had said too many of my odd imaginative 'seeings' so I didn't mention the gnome home. But be assured I saw it. *LOL*

Hi Steve - I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I admit, I have a strange imagination! Vicki

Nice shot, Vicki! I like the way the leaves in the reflection look like wisps of smoke.

I think that most trees, willows and alders aside, do not like their roots to be inundated. Not as romantic an explanation as yours, I admit!

Thank you Carol, Don and 'g'. I'm glad you enjoyed this curlicue-rooted pine tree! 'g', I'm surprised you didn't comment on the 'gnome home' at the base! Vicki

The reflection is beautiful and so clear!! I love the fence in the background and made up all kinds of stories about the roots. That long one closest to tree is actually a beautiful princess that was bewitched by a water fawn. Be careful when you're taking pictures. 'g'

Very cool shot Vicki! The roots do look like they are trying to stay away from the water. Neat! Don

Great reflections, I have seen trees along the river that seem to be growing out of the water too.
