Lock 24, Where Are You?

Lock 24, Where Are You?A side trip to Easton, Pennsylvania brought us to a small roadside park across the Lehigh - the former Location of Lock 24 and now the start of a terrific bicycle trail. Barges were once pulled by mules along this Delaware River stretch. Now, the National Canal Museum has reconstructed a small stretch of the abandoned canal and reopened it for mule-pulled barge rides. We plan to go there this weekend. Our Pennsylvania Summer is drawing to an end in mid-September. The two bridges are train bridges from Phillipsburg, New Jersey, where a steam locomotive runs on weekends . . . also slated to enjoy this coming weekend.
