Some Joshua Trees

This is a view of some Joshua Trees in a driveway to a home here in Golden Valley. These trees grow from my house to Las Vegas and beyond. Anyway they have spoiled all of these with way too much love and water.

Look at those fatties, there so fat there falling over.

Guess I did misunderstand - that what happens when I read too fast.

Hi Beverly, You have misunderstood, they are a tree. I just don't think of them as a tree, they are more of a cactus gone wild to me.

Nice image - and very interesting about the Joshua tree not being a tree

Hi Anne, I'm glad you have enjoyed my photo. The mountains around my home are not high enough for trees to grow on there own. Just brush and cactus grow on them. I can though drive up to the Hualapai mountains ten miles from me and there are nice big pine trees.

Thank you so much, Alan. They are so different from any tree I have seen in this area. Also I want to comment on that fantastic mountain range behind them. The mountains look as if they are all rock-is that right or is it my eyes? Our mountains here are convered with trees, sometimes stunted. Thanks again, Alan

I forgot to mention to those who would like to see more photos of the Joshua's to just go to the Google image search and type in Joshua Tree.

Hi Abba, Yea they are usually shorter with more branches, I don't know if they have trimmed them or if the extra water has made them grow taller. Hey get out of your pajamas and go get some shots of them. lol... It is going to be really nice today and they are starting to bloom.

Nice shot of the Joshua trees Alan...but looks like they tried to make them look like palm trees...lol! I've been meaning to take a drive out to Mojave to get photos of some...maybe this will encourage me!

Hi Lorraine and Carol, Thanks for the nice thoughts. Lorraine the green leaves will stick you. The trunks also have sharp things on them. Most of the wild plants in the desert will stick or grab you. If the plants don't get ya, the poisonous critters will :-)
