First US Record Butterfly

Thick-tipped Greta (Greta morgane) female. A very special image here, it was a first US record of the species and first record in 100 years since any members of its family has been seen in the US. I found it and it made the cover (above the fold) of the local newspaper and again the cover (below the fold!

Taken at the Bentsen State Park Wild Birding Center Headquarters gardens in Mission TX on December 08, 2004.
