Bluebells, Trees And Shadows

Carpets of Bluebells are a magnificent sight in the spring especially in England. They are often associated with ancient woodlands.

Bluebells are well adapted to life in woodlands. In the spring they flower before the surrounding trees come out in full leaf. This means that they complete their life cycle while light levels are high. Bluebells are able to grow quickly in the spring because they have an energy store in the form of a bulb.

The bluebells pictured here, are growing in our local woods.

Thanks for viewing. :)

Glad you liked this Alandra; we often walk through this wood and have fond memories of the boys playing here when they were little. It's always lovely when the bluebells are out, although, I think I took this shot a little early as the blooms weren't fully open; a week later and the colour was much more noticeable but I hadn't taken the camera on that occasion. :(

agreeing with all the other comments here, Jas. A charming scene.

I'm interested in Karen's comment re wishing they had tall trees in Texas, - am so surprised about this. Recall Karen mentioning on one of my images here, the thing that struck her most about her visit to Vancouver, BC was the abundance of trees and I wondered about that at the time.

Thank you for your lovely comments Vicki and am so glad you enjoyed viewing. Yes, the snowdrops are a real sign that Spring is on the way and they're such pretty flowers. :)

Another gem, Jas. This has the feeling of a watercolor - just beautiful and soothing. We used to wait anxiously for the snowdrops to appear in Devon. Thank you for a beautifully composed scene. The macro is complete in itself. Vicki

Thank you Karen, Talsi and Ann for all your very kind comments on this photo'. This part of the woods has always been a favourite with me and it's especially beautiful when the bluebells cover the floor. :)

A wonderful photograph to view. The composition is well done. The

patterns of light and shadow are so enjoyable. This photograph draws

one into a beautiful serene place in the wood, where one can leave

all behind and bath in the beauty of nature.

Beautiful pattern of light and shadow in this inviting scene. From a distance the flowers remind me of the color of Texas bluebonnets, but I wish we had such tall lovely trees. Lovely composition.

What a lovely and inviting picture. I wish I could just walk into it! I love the rock walkway and the beautiful Blue Bells leading up to the tree!! The touch of darkness, also, is really great and the rock walk seems to go on forever. Beautiful picture!
