Thankyou Steve and Whittler for looking in and help, I almost put finch, was really didn't know for sure, we have quite a few of the around at the moment, lovely litle birds.

This is a goldfinch (its name in Europe - a different bird from the goldfinches of shutterbug and whittler) and I've no idea if it was always in the southern hemisphere or if it is an introduction. Very pretty bird, anyway!
