Dove Sitting On Nest

I was out walking around the desert by my house again looking for some new cactus bloom shots. Well I spotted some nice orange ones and walked up to take a photo. I put the camera up to my eye and started to compose the shot when I got a shock, there in my viewfinder were eyes looking at me. This dove scared me more than I think I did it. Anyway I just had to move about a foot to the right and got this photo of the dove protecting it's babies or eggs. Well it let me take at least five photos. In my haste I forgot to use my flash, but for this shot I used it showing it's head that was in the shade much better. I think if I put my hand by it, it would bite me before it would leave it's nest. I talked to it for a little after the photo shoot, then said thanks for the photos and left. I'm pretty sure I can find the nest again and will be checking up on the new family from time to time. Open the large photo then push your F11 key for the best view.
