Butterfly Series - 1 - Giant Wood Nymph

A Giant Wood Nymph butterfly; black and white, veined, with a hint of yellow.

There is a butterfly conservatory in Key West, which we visited, and had great fun trying to capture shots of butterflies that just wouldn't stay put for more than a couple of seconds at a time! I was particularly pleased with how this one came out considering the number of people there, all trying to get the 'perfect' shot. As butterflies are one of my very favourite things, I was in my element just looking at all the different shapes, colours and sizes; I could have spent all day there but time was limited, so a couple of hours had to suffice.

The Giant Wood Nymph (Idea leuconoe) also known as a paper kite or rice paper butterfly is a very large with a 6" wingspan and is very popular in butterfly exhibits. This species is a cousin of the Monarch and native to Southeast Asia.

Found the above information from the internet.
