History
The Lens Flare has been online since March of 2004. It started out as a simple site to host a few of my favorite hiking images. The original site was meant to host about 100-300 images. The site was redesigned to give others the ability to upload images, and its design was efficient until it reached about 3,000 images. At the beginning of 2006, I started redesigning the website from scratch. I designed and ultimately threw away over a dozen layout mock-ups before coming to the version that you're looking at now. The code has been completely rewritten with scalability, speed, and functionality in mind for a large audience. The member dashboard is a major improvement over the hodge-podge administration area of the prior version. Members may now organize their images into albums and can add camera equipment to their profile. A few of the unused features have been removed, while many others have been improved or added.
About The Lens Flare
TLF is a community of Artists and Photographers. The site allows people to upload their work, while others may vote and comment on images throughout the site. The members are among the friendliest on the Internet and enjoy helping and encouraging each other. A message board is in place to converse freely, and contests help get the creative juices flowing. Members may also review camera and art equipment so that others may benefit with their experience when they're looking to buy new equipment.
