used to know a lot more about the flowers, before the computer addiction took over, Lulu : ) - most of the "real" names etc, but have forgotten quite a lot now.

Karen, this is wonderful. I love the detail. Alandra, I need a person like you in my garden. You seem to know all there is to know about flowers. I wouldn't have a clue as to the names of most of them.

so nice to see this Zinnia, Karen! didn't grow any of these this year, and normally always do, in memory of the dad of an old family friend, who always grew them in England, so my Mum told me. I remember this nice grandpa figure from my childhood days. Some Zinnias have the most interesting centers, - have you noticed the little yellow star-like florets that form a circle in the centers in many of them? that star circle always fascinates me. They love the heat, and most years I have them near our front door, where it gets hottest of anywhere on our patio : )
