Thank you both. I think this is a tri-color heron. I think some of the other shots of the younger herons might be Green Herons or Black-Crowned or Yellow-Crowned Herons. It is really hard to tell if the parents aren't nearby. The bird books I have don't have pictures of the babies.

Great capture, so comical. Is this a young green heron? Am hoping to eventually see one of these locally also.
