Sorry, but I find this to be too murky and I cannot see any worth to it.

This is a splendid image of the wolf. Congrats on the fact that it has passed the 100,000 view mark.

Hello, my name is Amanda Webster. I am the founder of H.O.W.L. (Humane Outreach for Wolves League). The purpose of our organization is to protect the wolf species by promoting education and awareness and dispelling popular myths that portray the wolf as an aggressive brute. We also focus on eliminating cruel and unnecessary "population control" methods, and instead look to safe repopulation and redistribution options that allow us to coexist. In doing this, we can rely on the positive effects these creatures have on the environment and economy, thus ensuring a safe ecosystem for our generations to come. I was wondering if it would be acceptable to use these wolf pictures for non-profit promotion purposes. I simply want your permission. They will be posted on the MySpace for the organization, the website (when it launches next month), and possibly promotional/educational materials. I, of course, will credit you if you tell me the name or organization that you wish to be known as. If you would be interested, we would also like to have you on our team as an official photographer for the organization! You may contact me at: helpthewolves@gmail.com Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Amanda

Hi Sam, I appreciate your thoughts on this. Doug :)

Very, Very good Doug. This is an image I have seen several times. You got the Shadowing right (unlike the guardian. The howling is to see who is in the neighborhood and where - helps me know too.

Hi Lulu, I appreciate your kind words. There isn't anything I know of that you can't do in Photoshop. You can further extend it's versatility with after market plug in filters like the flood, flexify and mystical lighting filter sets. After I posted this version I decided it was a little too contrasty so I added a three color "wispy mist" between wolf and the background. This is one of four versions.

Doug, this is great. But then, I am fast becoming a fan of all your work. Thanks for sharing these wonderful creations (and originals) with us. You certainly inspire me. That photoshop book is coming out to be used this winter.

Hi Karen, Thanks for commenting, I only howl with him on special occasions (when no one can see me), he howls along with most sirens, regardless of the time of day, or night :)
Guest - Mar 09, 2006 03:59 AM EDT
Gosh, Doug. does this happen all the time or just during a full moon. My dog used to howl with the sirens, too. I think it's the pitch that resembles the sound of their ancestors. Great photo creation by the way.
Guest - Mar 07, 2006 11:45 AM EDT
Hi Alandra, I'm not sure dogs howl because they don't like sirens. Wolf used to love to go out on the front porch of our studio when fire trucks went by and howl along with them. The firemen used to get a kick out of seeing him do this. Sometimes we howl together at the sirens :)
Guest - Mar 04, 2006 11:49 PM EDT
very well done! Now I've met your Wolf too : ) Our dogs don't like the sirens either and sometimes howl with them

Thank you Mary for your kind words. Wolf, our German Shepherd, is actually howling along with some sirens. The background, colors and moon were added in Photoshop.
