Yes, Brianpaddock. The white area is where a flower was once attached but all the petals are gone. It's like the way an apple forms under the flower. The green spots are like the xylem and phloem remnants.

agreeing with Brian, think it's the cactus pads with the flowers around the edges, - might be named Prickly Pear cactus?

Thanks for all the guesses! Nope, it's not lights nor diamond rings. All I did was play with the contrast and brightness to help hide part of the image.
