About This Image

Yesterday February 1st 2008 we had to put our great dog Cricket to sleep. She did have a wonderful life and got to travel across the United States from Missouri to Arizona. She started life out as a military dog living with my daughter and her husband and going from one military base to another. She even got arrested once for running loose around the base lol.. She really enjoyed going out into the desert and running around until she was worn out. She also loved going for rides, all you had to do was say, "go for ride" and she would be by the truck in a flash. I could go on about the things she would do but I can't see to type .. We all miss her so much.

"I talk to her when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure she understands. When she looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then she rubs her nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat. For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that. "W. Dayton Wedgefarth"

Hi Mary, Thanks so much for your great thoughts about remembering our pets. She was a very loving dog. When my wife was not at home and our phones answering machine would play my wife's message, Cricket would do the I miss you howl.

Alan, I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your Cricket. She looks like a loving and gentle dog. All we can do is love them while they are with us and remember them with just as much love. Mary

Hi Alex and Janice, Thanks for your thoughts, they are really appreciated.. I keep thinking of the fun times and that seems to help. Janice, Cricket is next to Matty in our back yard, they were not great friends at first being two women but as time went by they became best friends and always together.

Hi Carol, Ann, Lorraine, Golda, Karen, and Tania. Thank you all so much for your very kind words. It has been a rough four days, especially yesterday trying to explain things to Chris and Cody my grandchildren. All of your comments have helped so much. Now when I think of her I try to just think about all of the fun times but it's still hard. My other dog Spud is now looking for her, he keeps looking outside and then in all of the rooms. I guess in time he will forget, but I never will..

A beautiful and moving tribute to a wonderful friend. I, too, cry when remembering a special dog as they become such important members of the family and leave a big void when they are gone, leaving behind many happy memories. She was lucky to have spent her life with such a loving and compassionate human.
