About This Image

A neighbor around the curve has a small pond. I took this this morning. Didn't tweak it at all.
The swamp is going to sleep slowly. The cypress needles are dropping - soon the surface of the water will be covered with rust as it gets colder.

They are all beautiful May! There are two openings left for the Great American Photo Workshop in the Smokies in July. Sure would love to see you there.

This is the shot that won the Best in Category at the Faces and Facets photo competition at the Visual Arts Center of NW FL recently.

Thank you for your comments. Alandra - it is the cypress needles that form the "rust" on the water - I took this about 10 in the morning. The pond actually, was quite green-brown, and I wasn't paying attention to the background, only the reflection.

beautiful! these F 717's are great, huh! Interesting to hear about your area. Have not heard of rust forming on water in ponds/swamps during winter. What causes this? We have a small lilypond outfront here, but no waterlilies are blooming now. Sometimes our pond freezes, but quite often it doesn't.
