About This Image

I took this photo in Rotorua of the Tui. A NZ Native bird it has a lovely call, almost a bell sound. They are nectar eaters and though normally quite shy, once they get used to you being around they don't fly away so often.
My mums neigbour has a lovely tree (that also over hangs mums house) that has pink flowers and each year it is home to several (most I have counted at one time 67) tuis all getting the nectar. As they start in the morning the tuis are fine but by days end all that nectar has gone to their heads, they are squabling and cannot fly a straight path home.
THe Kowhai is also a NZ native tree
