About This Image

Twice, while Workamping at the SouthBend East Campground in Granger, Indiana, one of these specialized German tour busses came in overnight.

They have separate seating and sleeping accommodations for 32 people. The driver and tour guide double as chefs with a huge portable kitchen built in along one side of the coach and tables and chairs for all. The other side opens up into a private canvas room with stairs leading to all three sleeping floors.

The tourists fly to Alaska or New York for a 3-week trip across the Continental US and Alaska.

This bus, and the boat I'll be adding next are two of the most unusual vehicles/vessels I've seen. Enjoy - Vicki

Thanks everyone - sometimes I think so many images get added at a time that many slip by us. One of the campers visiting the KOA actually saw one of these recently while traveling through the Yukon (there are 23 such buses, based on a Mercedes frame, in their fleet). They don't use the tiny sleeping rooms while the bus is in transit as they have to stop and open up the side of the tour bus for access to the s three sleeping levels. All the windows on the side remind me of a livestock hauling two-story trailer! I added this one mainly as a "human interest" collage, rather than an image for judging, thinking you might enjoy it. The unusual outrigger boat I posted at the same time is another such oddity.

Missed this one somehow Vicki. That is really different. I like what you did with the pics. Neat bus! I still can't imagine 32 people sleeping in it though, wow. Don

Lovely collage. I like the way you put it together and the description made it even more interesting.
