Tortoiseshell Butterfly: Found in Central and S.Europe, Armenia, Siberia and generally spread over S.England and Wales. Female is slightly larger than the male. Varieties few, the blue marks are sometimes absent, or lilac in colour, and sometimes black speck replace the yellow bloch between the 2 centre spots on the fore wing.

I was lucky to capture this butterfly just as it was feeding on a Dandelion.
