About This Image

This is a view I found while driving through San Francisco. We were really out of place there. We are use to a small town, all the people made us very nervous. They would come up to your car at all the stoplights and ask for money.
Sorry to say but out of all the towns we went through on our vacation, San Francisco had the most trash laying around on the ground and even on the freeways. We paid our five bucks to go across the Golden Gate Bridge, then we got out of town.

Hello,My name is Maggie and I was wondering if you took paid guest posts on your site, slfobgg.com? Not a traditional guest post but one you'd be compensated for and have complete editorial control over. I'm part of a business that does high-end brand placements worked into guest posts on a variety of subjects. The posts don't advocate or review our clients, they are informational and/or newsy articles that are made to fit the feel and flow of your site. We include a reference link to our clients amongst other topical links inside the content. We'd provide the article, written by a domain expert, and money for you to review and post it upon your approval.(If you don't take guest posts, we also have arrangements where we discuss your upcoming post and find one in which a link makes sense and pay you to include it.)Is that something that you would be interested in? If so, do you have any other sites? Thanks,Maggie Durango

Hi Vicky, Thanks...I'm glad my photo brought you back some nice memories. On our next trip through San Francisco we will for sure try to see the better areas and see some of the history there. We were in a hurry last time and were not in town but maybe a hour or so. Hi Don and Cindy, Thanks very much for your comments. We were just walking along the docks and this view was there, I noticed the depth of the hill and just took the shot and kept walking. We really can't wait to go back, I want to get a shot from on top of that hill of the boat docks.

Many years ago, my hubby visited this town and we have similiar photos to this one. Its a great shot that you have taken of it.
Guest - May 20, 2007 01:08 PM EDT
Well, it is a very pretty capture Alan. Neat shot, Don

Alan, San Francisco will always be 'Home' to me. Thank you for the 'visit', but you haven't given The City a chance. Unfortunately, most cities have trashy areas which leave a horrid impression. But San Francisco has a great deal to share and is rich in history. (I will admit that on my last visit, after my adoptive father died, I did not venture out of my hotel room at night wearing any type of logo sweatshirt or carrying obvious cameras portraying me as a 'tourist'. The homeless situation - especially around Market Street is definitely disconcerting.) A quick share, when I first took my RV to Mike's near Ocala, Florida almost three years ago, I was amazed by the CLEANLINESS of the back roads. Turns out that the only reason they were so clean was courtesy of all the hurricanes that swept through so thoroughly. Now, those same roads are foul with debris from passing cars and locals. Go figure. Vicki

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the nice comments. After reading them all I can see Alex's point. We most likely ended by the bridge where thousands of people "Tourist Like Me" pass through and throw trash around, the locals most likely did not have anything to do with all the trash. Also our route to leave went through a busy area of the town. I'm sure there are lots of great places to see in San Francisco, we just saw a very small part of it. It was nice where we walked along looking at the boats and the bridge. I even felt safe carrying both my cameras. We were just really out of place with not being use to a big city. I did learn to watch out for people on bicycles, I almost got hit a couple of times LOL.. You can't ride a bike where I live, first the tires would be flat from stickers, and the sand makes it really hard to pedal, we don't have paved roads or sidewalks :-) We were also in a hurry to get to my Dad, but next time we will defiantly spend some time there and see the good parts of town.

I remember the story of the first pilot to fly the first jet for the Nepalese Airline. As a honor, they gave him a round the world trip to anywhere he wanted to go. He chose New York. Upon arriving, he hopped in a cab, who ended up dropping him off in a very bad part of town. Shortly afterwards he was mugged and all his money stolen. He immeditately left New York and flew back to Nepal, with terrible stories to tell about the city and Americans. I relay this story, because as a resident of the Bay Area, and former resident of San Francisco, I recognize that some neigborhoods are really pretty bad. Others can be quite nice. If you are not sure where to go, you can wind up in a nasty place. Homeless people and trash are problems in most American cities, not just San Francisco. It is all a matter of where you go. Better luck on your next visit.

VERY good capture, really unique. Sorry you didn't enjoy the brief time you spent there. I was there YEARS ago, and loved it then. It's too bad it had to change.
Guest - Jul 23, 2006 09:50 PM EDT
Well, I like the depth this photo shows. Didn't know about the city being dirty. too bad.
